The process of calling each prospect prior to the mailing gave us a flawless list and set up an introductory
sales opportunity and the ‘first’ impression. By mailing a sample of the actual product to each prospect in a
box that featured a teaser message, we were able to realize a high rate of readership – based on the resulting
traffic at the booth, increased traffic to the website and direct calls. Visitors over the course of a year
campaign to the booth ranged from 11% - 26% return — HUGE for direct mail -- with several sales appointments,
quotes and a direct sales contract. This gave the company national visibility without the need for a national
budget, and more importantly gave prospects a first-hand experience with the material. Now entering phase II
of the program, we are going to continue using trade shows as the primary communication medium, but also develop
more electronic opportunities using e-mail and web programs.
